EPDOR assessed available IoT transmission technologies for ČEZ Distribuce

For several months this year we had worked on an interesting project for our partners from ČEZ Distribuce. The goal was a complex assessment of established and emerging IoT transmission technologies and their potential applications in the realm of electricity distribution. We not only focused on the ability of the technologies to allow for remote data reading regarding the asset state or current values of particular physical quantities, but we also focused on the possibility for direct management and administration of these assets as well as their security. Among the use cases we examined were, for example, remote value reading of electricity meters, seal break or fuse break notification, et cetera. Last but not least, we prepared a what-if analysis and assessed the risks that go hand in hand with deployment of this constantly developing technology.
